[120827] Kim DongRyul's praising BoA's rendition of "YeopSaram" Live on You&I

Kim DongRyul, composer of "YeopSaram (Stand By)", a song off BoA's 6th album "Hurricane Venus", praised BoA on his facebook.

"I saw BoA singing YeopSaram live on You&I.

She really did well as expected.
Apart from one mistake (keke), JaeHyung-hyung also played the piano well. If I say this, BoA might be disappointed but personally I enjoy this more than the album version.

I don't work with other singers much, and when I do, sadly it's usually only one-day recording. If given more time, we can perhaps produce better result but it's not easy in reality. These singers are so busy that many times the recordings must be done at night. Even so, BoA listened to my opinion and recorded for two days.

In fact, it's my first time recording with idol turned artist (meaning those who trained since young age). I've heard a lot about BoA singing well but recording with her made me really surprised. Her sense of rhythm is really accurate. During the 2-day recording, she said "let's do it again" 3 times voluntarily. It's really impressive how she's not fixed to her own style and how she trusts the producer. I've always had unfair preconception about kids training at a young age system because it's pitiful. But working with BoA serves as a good trigger for me to reconsider. It also made me think that I should practice more.

Apart from that, there's one regretful point which is if I was closer to BoA personally, had more chances to discuss openly about the song, had more time to practice at the time, maybe we could have made the song more comfortably, more mournful and more BoA-style.

Maybe if that's the case, I could have felt even better listening to her live this time. If I get to hear her "YeobSaram" ten years from now, what kind of feeling would it be? I'm looking forward to it.

PS. Practicing too much might not result in a good song. Like John Park's "Geu Norae" where we spent so much time discussing, practicing and recording for many days. After the album release, I met with criticism saying it's exactly my singing style... This is really my fault. T-T"

For those who haven't watched this You&I episode, you should. BoA performed Only One, YeopSaram (Stand By) with Jung JaeHyung's piano accompaniment, The Shadow and No.1 on the show. (She also performed Valenti but it got edited out. >_< )

She also talked about why she cried on KPOP STARasked Hyori for advices on dating (one more article on this), and also did Bbu-ing Bbu-ing! ^^
