[120813 DongA Interview] I want to stay an idol and also want to get married. Am I too greedy?

Q: After "KPOP STAR", people expect more from you musically.
"That's the exact reason why this album contains fewer songs. I didn't want to put in medium quality songs just to fill the album. There are many song I could have put in the album but I only selected high quality ones to record. This album is really 'Quality over Quantity'. My other albums have songs that you skip while playing but this album doesnt have even one song that I don't like."

Q: Yoo AhIn is your ideal type?
"Fashion King was on air during the time I was preparing for the MV. We needed a bad boy character and were looking for someone who could do it and Yoo AhIn came to mind. He is not an actor who films MV often but willingly accepted our offer so I'm grateful. That's why I said he was my ideal type but he really is not."





Q: What's your ideal type then?
"Just a nice and handsome guy. (laugh) Everyone has an ideal type but it doesnt really match with his/her real lover. I just wanna date with a person with a matching mind."

Q: When do you wanna get married?
"I really want to but how do I get married by myself?"

Q: Do u wanna have kids too?
"I hate kids. My nephew hates me. Scared of me. I cant see him often and I cant play with him properly when I do see him. I'm afraid he might get hurt if I touch him so I can't go near him. So he hates me. It's really difficult getting close to kids.

Q: You're a perfectionist?
"When I work, I'm almost a perfectionist. very meticulous. but off work, i'm lazy. sleep late, get up late, I'm an owl. but I do everything that needs to be done.

Q: Still consider yourself an idol?
"I want to stay an idol. I feel good when people call me that (laugh) Actually my position is vague, not an idol but also not an artist. I'd rather like hanging somewhere in between. This vagueness makes making music easier. It's easy to cross between various genres.

Q: Many were raving about your beauty on KPOP STAR
"I've always looked like this. Maybe people didnt take good notice when I first debuted with light makeup on? (laugh) Actually during dancing & singing, singers need to express the song, keep opening their mouths and such. Even pretty people would look ugly. Antifans in our country really have world-class level skills in capturing those moments from videos."

Q: You debuted at such a young age and managed to gain huge success in Japan so u have this image of "female warrior". Has your personality always been like this?
"I guess you can say so. I also swear when I'm mad. Since I am human, if there're things I have to spit out, I will spit out. But I dont get mad at reasonable things. and even when I swear, I can't really go far. just about "Shidaeng" level. [according to a Jumping, Shidaeng is like "damn it". I suspect it's a kinda soft swear word.]

Q: What's plus/minus points between being solo/group idol?
"Having fewer people has both plus and minus points. In a group, members can cover each other's week point but isn't it a plus for solo singers when it comes to income? (laugh) and it's easier for solos to make music they like and are satisfied with. That's a very big point.


Q: How do you take care of your health?
"I exercise once or twice a week and also take vitamins. My mom also put together traditional medicines for me but I always forget to drink it."

Q: How do you take care of your body(shape)?
"I dont particularly take care of it. Since I'm short, people don't look at my body. It's ok. No matter how good my body looks, it's over at my height anyway."

Q: Drama offers must be coming in
"I'm very interested in dramas but there are no offers.(laugh) If I have a chance, I'd like to try a role like 'Im MeAhRi' or 'Pro Hong' in 'Gentleman Dignity'. In Athena, I could have done better but they handed me the script 10 mins before shooting. So sad there was not enought time to practice."
[In Gentleman Dignity, the main female character is a rather typical Kdrama heroine Seo Yi Soo. Im MeAhRi is her former student who is pretty, cheerful but cries all the time over her supposedly one-sided love 40year-old ajuhshi. Pro Hong is Yi Soo's housemate, who is a very confident, arrogant, no-nonsense nice-body pro-golfer.]

Q: If you can go back in time to before u debuted, what kind you life would you choose?
"I'd still choose music. No matter what kind of career, there're always difficulties. They all have good and bad points. I'm most happy with my current life. I'm so blessed being able to do what I love since young."

Q: What will you probably do 10 years from now?
"I think I'll still work in the entertainment business. As a singer, as an actress... maybe I'd be already married (laugh)"

What's with this idea of hers to go on every interview and deny that Yoo AhIn actually is not her ideal guy? Isn't it a bit rude to say so and deny it later? What would Yoo AhIn think? XD (She doesnt have to say it out loud, hardcore fans know that Yoo AhIn is not beautiful enough to be her ideal XD XD XD)

And the swear remark, income remark, kids-hate-me remark, i'm-lazy remark, no-care-of-body-b/c-of-shortness remark, etc. XD You sure you wanna stay an idol? I just can't with this lady. XD Easily my most fav interview of hers.
