[rant] Disturbance

One bad thing about writing your own songs is that people tend to believe you write from your direct experiences no matter how much you protest that it isn't so.

I mean after Only One and now with Disturbance, I'm inclined to believe that BoA must have had it real bad with her last relationship. ^^;







Like, I think maybe she still cannot forget her Only One and that she must have not said "Saranghae" as often as she should have while they were still together (from Disturbance). I hope she can be honest to her feeling and know how to say "I love you" (if it really can save a relationship from turning sour) when she meets her new love interest. :P

I'd like to use some space here to glorify BoA's ability in using some very mundane words to create such heart-wrenching atmosphere.

My favorite phrases in Only One and Disturbance :

"상처주지 않으려고 자꾸 애를
써가면서 눈치 보는 니 모습 싫어
So I’ll let you go" - Only One

"I hate to see you tiptoe around trying not to hurt me so I'll let you go" <= *tears* 

"갑작스런 나의 말에
왠지 모르게 넌 안심한듯해" - Only One

 "At my sudden words, you seem somehow relieve" <= *more tears* those sudden words must be "Let's break up."

"내 눈을 쳐다보지 않는 너
내 마음을 읽지 않는 너
내 슬픔을 외면하는 너" - Disturbance

"You who don't look in my eyes
You who don't read my mind
You who turn away from my sadness" <= What's sadder than knowing that her lover doesn't give a sh*t even though she's in so much pain? and this also proves that BoA is just like any girl out there despite her "female warrior" image. She wants her guy to be able to read her mind! BoA, guys are not good mind-readers! You need to say it out loud next time, alright?! XD

"At first, I didn't know. Thought you were just busy.
Our contacts&meetings became less frequent.
Just wait and you'll come. I must understand you." <= Sound like something you might hear from a clueless housewife next door. You can't help but feel sorry for her, right? *tears*

 Now, let's talk about the MV for a bit. BoA's bro tweeted that BoA asked him to film it as a prequel to Only One and at first glance, they're really beautifully linked thematically and cinematographically. But don't you think something is a little bit off here? In Only One, Yoo AhIn looks like he can't wait to break up with BoA. no sign of remorse or longing whatsoever. People naturally think he's already got a new girl.

In Disturbance though, why does Taemin seem more in pain than BoA who looks very composed and probably doesn't mind very much if she has to break up with him. Like it's almost OK either way for her. This is the only point that I see as not fit to the story of the songs.
