The main interview written by 猪又　孝[DO THE MONKEY] is the same on every website publishing BoA's Message/Call my name Interview. There are, however, some additional different (and more fun) Q/As for each of the site for us fans to enjoy. :)

Main Interview:

BoA's new song "Message" has the feel of autumn. It depicts how people in the modern days experience joys/sorrows through message exchanges.

"I think everyone's experienced it. Text messages can be read over and over again so they're more touching. This songs tells about the emotion of a girl waiting for messages from her lover. The lyrics are both romantic and sentimental."

The MV is directed by BoA's brother, Kwon SoonWook. It tells a story of a guy who traced back the clues left by his ex-gf and finally found out her true feelings.

"It's easy to exchange ideas and communicate with my brother. That's a very important factor in work creation. The filming location is a botanical garden in Korea. While it was very hot during the day, it became very cold at night. It was tough to keep good body condition. (bitter laugh)
 
The 2nd track "Call my name" has lyrics like "I'm not as weak as to cry and cling to you." "No need to hold me" "Just call my name". The chorus part depicts the aching heart of a girl who feels lonely, yet cannot muster the courage to speak her mind.

"Guys have their own worlds and seem to think of not-annoying girls as "good girls". So sometimes even when we want to be spoiled, we say "It's alright" to become "good girls" or maybe simply because of our prides. But as they say, when a girl says "It's alright", it actually is not. Since there's no other option, or things can't be helped, we say "It's alright". Guys who naively believe it's alright when he heard so is totally no good (LOL). Because actually it is NOT alright."


You've started acting recently, both in the movie "Make Your Move" and also the drama "Waiting for love".

"Filming was fun. It's a new experience for me to turn into someone else. I got to do things I normally don't get to do. Singers' movements on stages are big but for actors, sometimes they only use their eyes. The emotion delivery techniques are totally different. It was fun, but also difficult."


In 2013, BoA started her year with her first solo-concert in Korea, followed with K-POP STAR Season2, drama and other TV programs. In Japan, she held a 10th Anniversary fanclub event, participated in Quincy Jones concert, SMTOWN TOKYO SPECIAL EDITION, released 3 singles this year which is a first in 4 years.

"This year I feel very content with my activities both in Japan and Korea."

Next year, we hope BoA will release an album in Japan which would be a first in 3 years.

Ｑ：What's your recent obsession?

Ａ：Sleeping(LOL). In September, while I was filming for a drama in Korea, the schedule was so hard. It went on for 3 weeks. There's this one day where filming started at 7am, ended at 5am on the next day, and continued again on 7am. I had to sleep in a car parked at the location. During the middle of filming, I started passing out whenever I sit on something (LOL). So I've been getting some sleep time like that.

Ｑ：From "I want to believe the message is for real" in the lyrics, is there anything you've never directly experienced but "want to believe it's real"?

Ａ：I don't believe in things I haven't seen or heard myself. I also tend to not believe in rumors/gossips about other people. But there are things I wonder if they really exist, namely past life, afterlife and soulmate. Also, they say there're 3 more persons in the world with the exact same face. I've never seen anyone who look exactly like me, so I can't believe it. Is it true?

Ｑ：The keyword "voice" appears several times in the song. Do you have anyone or any artist in particular whose voice you like?

Ａ：I like Michael Jackson's voice best. Recently, I started to like Robin Thicke's voice.

Q. What kind of message do you want to send to about-to-debut-self in the past?
A. Because you were such a hard-worker, I could come all this way. Thank you.

Q. What about a message to your future self 10 years from now?
A. I will continue working hard so that I can be happy 10 years from now too. (LOL)

― What do you think about a girl who keeps waiting/longing for her love like in "Message"?
【BoA】　I think it's cute. I'm also the "waiting" type too so it's cute (LOL).

― Then are you the strong "I'm not as weak as to cry and cling to you (from Call my name)" type or get-depressed-easily type?
【BoA】　If I have to be away from my boyfriend for a while, I'd definitely think too much about him and get depressed if I don't do anything. So I'll need to play around too (LOL). When we can't meet, I'll have to enjoy things I like, otherwise it'd be just simply waiting, right? Then it's not well-balanced and will definitely lead to fights. If I do nothing and just wait, I think the guy would feel bad too. So I need to go out and play as hard as he works! (LOL)

― Also in 「Call my name」, there're lyrics that go＜I'm sorry　but please don't forget me＞. After breakup or unpleasant happendings, are you the type who quickly forget or the type that keeps dragging on?
【BoA】　I forget while dragging on. I can't immediately forget. Impossible. How to help forget? Time, I think. After time past, I forget...I guess. I don't think I can forget by doing other things. Time helps solving all problems of our hearts.

― What's your recent interest?
【BoA】　Nothing in particular but during filming of the Korean drama in September, the schedule was incredibly packed I had to sleep in between shootings. That went on for 3 weeks. There was no time for proper meals either. I had to grab something quick so I ate nothing but icecream. The body was so tired, I felt no appetite. So instead of eating, it was more like taking in sugar to keep the body awake.

― If you have a long vacation, where do you want to go?
【BoA】　London. For Europe, I went to Paris the other day. But london, I only visited it once for work and i have no opportunity to visit it again since then. England is the country with European atmosphere where you can use English so I think London is the most convenient. There's no particular place I want to visit. I just want to rent a room and idle around london streets for a few months.

【PRIVATE Q&A】BoA's fashion&beauty secrets

― What kind of fashion do you want to enjoy this autumn/winter?

BoA：I want to wear coats. Knee-length long pea coat. Saint Laurent or sacai. The collar is big and can be flipped up when it gets cold. Black color would be nice. But I've bought a camel-colored one just the other day. It's a color I've never owned before. I'd like to try coordinate that kind of color too from now on.

― Your recent beauty tips?

BoA：Applying suncream. I've just recently realized that black spots also form under artificial lights. Be it lights on stage, or lights used for photoshoots, the lights I'm exposed to during work are very strong. So now I'm carrying suncream around.

― The year end is already not far. Do you have anything you want to do within this year?

BoA：Travelling alone! I want to stay in London for a month. I couldn't go because of the drama filming. There's no place I want to visit in particular, I just want to roam around london streets. Ah, I want to see Harry Potter castle. But it's impossible for a one-month trip in the remaining 2 months.(LOL)
