[lyrics kanji, EN translation] The Shadow Japanese Version

BoA is a genius. Her lyrics clearly depict her story and her thoughts. It's a shame this song didn't get the limelight it deserves :') (But what can we say, the limelight was stolen by "Only One". LOL)

The Shadow
作詞 : BoA
作曲 : Joe Belmaati

[translation] Only One JP Interview : Natalie Part2

In Korea, people kept asking me "Is this from your real experience?" (LOL)

──What kind of breakup do you want to portray in the lyrics?
I think usually couples kinda know beforehand they have to breakup. Of course, there are sudden breakups too but I wrote the lyrics imagining a scene of a girl meeting her boyfriend to break up after their feelings toward each other have turned a little cold. She still likes him (or they still like each other. The Japanese is ambiguous here -noshadow31) but continuing this relationship is not gonna be good to anyone. In Korea, people kept asking me "Is this from your real experience?" (LOL)
──I was about to ask too (LOL)
BoA
It's not from my experience but I also think one must have some kind of experience like this to be able to write such lyrics. (LOL)
──In the lyrics, the last chorus part starting with "itsunohika.. (Some day..) is the main focus. It portrays an image of a woman experiencing different loves in life, making this song a mature love song.
I also like this part very much. Actually when I first wrote the Korean lyrics for this song, the chorus parts all have different lyrics but Mr.Kim (the song arranger) said "It would be difficult to sing." so I changed all chorus parts to be the same except the last part where I refused to change.

[translation] Only One JP Interview : Natalie Part3

The outfit that makes the choreography memorable.

── What's the concept for「The Shadow」MV?
The concept is directly the world one images from the lyrics. A camera called Technocrane is used to film me on the stage and me who's looking at myself on the stage. The scenes were shot at different angles to make it interesting to see.
──Viewers can enjoy 6 different outfits. As a woman, isn't it fun to wear many different outfits?
It was fun but I also had to dance for each outfit. There're totally 7 scenes including the non-dance onces. Filming took 3 days, it was tiring.
──Among the outfits, there's one with the black tight mini-skirt and there's also a see-through bosom with slit pants. They're sexy.
Exactly (LOL) But these days, that level of revealing is OK, right? I don't like cheap skin exposure, but I am not against revealing some skin to make the outfit look good. The slit pant is actually my idea.

[translation] Only One JP Interview : Natalie Part1

BoA's interviews on websites this time around all seem like the same interview where some are edited shorter and some longer, so I pick this longest one from natalie to translate. ^^

I want to create something that feels natural.

──「Only One」is the title song off an album released in Korea last year。What was your goal in creating that album?
BoA
All my past works up to「Hurricane Venus」has a strong female-fighter image so I wanted to create a more natural feeling work. Nowadays, Electro is the trend but in reality, what lasts long is good melody with good lyrics. Simple songs with power.
──They have everlasting charms.
Yes, exactly everlasting. The point is to create good songs focusing on Pop genre. Instead of flashy, performance-heavy songs, I wanted to make an album with songs that people can listen and feel they're good.
