[Chronicle] BoA in 2011

After the 1st half of 2012 recap, the most logical thing to do next is nothing but to do recap of the year before, no? ^^

So here you are! The recap of BoA in year 2011! I'll try not to be wordy this time around and this shall be the last of my posts of this kind (which includes lists, recaps, score keeping, everything that does not help with my unhealthy obsession. The other factor being it's taking so much time to compile this kind of stuffs and I don't even know if people wanna read these posts >_< )





BoA pretty much started the year with the SMTOWN Tokyo concerts which were so successful SMTOWN decided on more concerts at Tokyo Dome in April which, unfortunately had to postpone to September due to the tragic tsunami/nuclear incident.

After that, she flew to Canada for the Hollywood movie, COBU 3D, shooting. COBU 3D shooting was in the way for BoA to celebrate her Japan 10th Anniversary but we can live with that. There's a whole year left to celebrate or that's what we thought. >_<

The weird thing though is despite supposedly being busy half a world away, she still managed to be hired as a face for L'occitane and model for the new product of Audio Technica. All this without being inactive in Korea/Japan. How could she do it, I have no idea.

Now, after she was done with the freaking movie that keeps pushing back its release date, BoA went back to Japan and met her fans in a string of concerts below.

All these concerts are nice and all but fans want a new album, so AVEX released this sorry excuse of an album to shut fans up. Even the most forgiving BoA fan must be offended by it.

But let's all move on. Next, BoA performed in the postponed SMTOWN lives with better hair than the cinnamon roll one she sported in January concerts.

If all these concerts are getting boring, then how about this? On 110915, BoA appeared as the main guest in the luxurious ESCADA shop renewal party in Roppongi. And on 111013, appeared at the Audio Technica 50th Anniversary Event in which she sang 'Milestone', her new single, for the first time in front of reporters worldwide.

And we're back to some more SMTOWN concert again. This time it's at Madison Square Garden. Yes it's the concert featured in the movie I AM.

And now, to the most special concert of the year for BoA fans! Why? Because it has both Miura Daichi and Crystal Kay making it possible to have collaborations of the songs we love! It's also the first time BoA performed Milestone in front of fans and IMHO, it's the best performance of the song so far. I still listen to the MP3 rip of it to this day.

111105 SOUL MEMBER MEETING VOL.5～BoA 10th Anniversary & BirthdayParty～

Since it's being her 10th year anniversary and all, BoA spent her birthday with fans. It had been 3 years since her last SOUL fanmeeting and the event was attended by 3000 fans with BoA's choreographer and stage director Ayako Takeuchi as the MC. Her friends and juniors namely, Crystal  Kay, Miura Daichi, SHINee, SNSD all sent in VDO messages congratulating her. BoA also sang Milestone and I SEE ME for fans at the event.

For the whole month of November, BoA also acted as the monthly navigator for the radio show J-WAVE 81.3 FM：TOYOTA ROAD TO TOMORROW 

Since it's a weekly show, that means 4 episodes of BoA talking about various things and playing her own songs plus some of her favourite songs. I was so happy listening to her DJ-ing again after many years. *sob* Visit here for the script of her show (fun to read but in Japanese) or even just to look at her choice of songs. *wink*

Then it was time for some more Milestone promotion. The song was released on 111207 as a DVD single with a neat movie (look for ENG SUB on youtube or something).

BoA 10th film ～From the past to the present～

Also read a very good interview of BoA here in which she talks about Milestone and her 10 years career in Japan. Of course, BoA didn't do just radio and online interview, she did TV shows too but unfortunately, out of 3 shows she went on, she sang Milestone on only one of them. The reasons for this are clear though.

In 111207 FNS Music Festival, she shared the stages with 2 other female singers, Nishino Kana and Kuraki Mai. It'd be too much to expect the other two to sing her new song released on that very day. Singing a completely new and unknown song on a music festival would be beyond weird and tactless too. So the trio sang Kana's Kimitte, Mai's Strong Heart, and BoA's Merikuri. BoA looked so old here I don't even wanna search for a pic to post here.

She did sing Milestone on 111209 Music Station but the make up, clothes and lighting is so hideous I'm not posting any pic here either. >_< *Cursing her stylist*

In 111219 Hey Hey Hey Xmas special, BoA sang merikuri because yeah it suited the show theme better >_< You don't wanna look all alone and depressed while others are partying, right? Her merukuri here is nothing impressive but the talk! oh the glorious talk! BoA is so funny here with Downtown, TVXQ and SNSD! You definitely must check it out if you haven't already.

Next up is her annual XMAS live, the one with the most splendid SET LIST because it's to commemorate her 10th Anniversary. BoA also could not finish singing Merikuri for the first time due to too much tearing up. She redid it again for the DVD recording though. The scene where she sulked about it is the cutest thing in the world. The MC parts are hilarious as BoA badmouth gossip talked about her 3 managers.

BoA THE LIVE / 2011 "X'mas"～The 10th Anniversary Edition～ SPECIAL DIGEST MOVIE

Last in the year! SBS K-POP STAR!

K-POP STAR 1st episode was aired on 111204 but since it'd intervene with her flow of Japan activities, I save it for last. The real work for K-POP STAR started a few months back anyway. BoA flew to pick all the guitar guys from L.A. since September so there!

For those who don't know, SBS K-POP STAR is an audition program where TOP 3 music companies in Korea, namely SM, YG and JYP sent in representatives to cast and train contestants. The winner gets to choose which of the 3 s/he will debut from. YG and JYP sent their founders and heads of the companies, Yang Hyun Suk and Park Jin Young respectively as judges while Lee Soo Man being too old sent BoA instead. BoA proved a valuable asset to the program more than anyone could expect though. Her comments are sharp but sincere. She brought much warmth, laughter and drama (LOL) to the show. I mean she started crying since the first freaking episode. LOL
